Thursday’s Thoughts from Will 09.24.2020

Good morning! In our choir rehearsal last night I shared with those gathered about our tentative plans for Christmas. I wanted to share those with everyone at this time.

We will offer/record an all digital Christmas musical video project to our church in December. To do this, we will record the music for this special premiere the weekend we would normally have CIC. Most likely we will confine our recording time to Saturday Dec 5th. So choir and orchestra, make plans now to record that day.

In this video we will sing/play some new Christmas music (being ordered in the next few days), have some small groups and/or solos, some narrations, and perhaps a small devotion from our pastor. I haven’t decided exactly what this will look like, but it will include some of these elements. The choral songs we record will also be used for our Sunday services in December.

As for rehearsals, our next rehearsal for orchestra (technically first since March) will be at 5:45-7 on Wednesday, October 7th. Choir will join at 6:45 and we will record “Days of Elijah” together in the sanctuary. This rehearsal is crucial for all to be there because this will be the first time we try to record with choir and orch together in the same room.

After October 7th, we will begin rehearsals every week until our Christmas project is complete. In these rehearsals we will learn new music (both choral and instrumental only) and record some anthems for general use so please make plans to begin our weekly rehearsals in October. We have a short period of time to learn a few new Christmas songs and continue recording new anthems together for worship services in 2020.

I tell you all what I told the choir last night, I’m not happy about my decision for Christmas, but it’s the right thing to do. We simply do no have the space to distance ourselves AND have room for people to come and watch our presentation. I’m sure you share my disappointment as well. This decision has been the hardest decision I’ve had to make all year. However, please do everything you possibly can to be apart of our opportunities to serve in the coming months. I need you all to make the quality what we’re used to.

Have a great rest of your week, praying for you all!
