Thursday’s Thoughts from Will 08.15.19

Last night’s rehearsals and CIC Preview were incredible. I don’t use that word lightly, because I was blown away by the response of our people who want to participate in this year’s outreach, Christmas at Ivy Creek. If you need something related to CIC for the next few months, be sure to visit this link: Christmas at Ivy Creek. Right now, you’ll find the digital listening files and the schedule you received in your packet. Within the next few weeks, we’ll be adding the digital music files for you tablet users.  I want to say a big shout out to the following folks who helped so much in the massive task of getting 130 packets ready for this event: Wylene Mosley, Tyler and Andrew Whittaker, and Jana Foster. It takes MANY hours and I’m grateful to our folks for their help.

On another note to choir members, about this time each year, we begin having our regular black folder “issues” as we begin integrating new folks into our group. Please be patient with us as we try to get your music to you and have plenty for everyone. Like with our seating chart, which is always in flux, be flexible as much as possible. Our situation is not ideal, but it’s our only option for now. Also, if you plan to take your black folder home to practice on your own (and I’m certainly in favor of that) please be aware that if new music as been “loaded” into the folders, your new music will be on the organ side choir rails in a stack by the alto side. Simply come by and pick it up so it doesn’t get shoved around on your seat before you arrive. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

There are SEVERAL important things in this newsletter, so please check them all out and make sure you are good.  Here are the top three items you need to know this week:

  1. Outfits- if you’re new since last Christmas, you need an outfit. Let me know if you need one and haven’t been fitted.
  2. First CIC rehearsal (for ALL orchestra and choir) is NEXT Sunday afternoon, the 25th, from 4-6. We’ll be working in sectionals most of the time. I’ll have a list of the things we’ll focus on early next week.
  3. Choir Retreat on Sept 14th for ALL choir members only from 9-3 with Monte Nichols leading. Lunch included in donation of $15 (not required). You’ll pay that morning. There’s a sign up underneath the graphic below.

Sunday the choir (not full orchestra) is singing “Boundless Love.” I hope you’ll join us for this fun anthem. Orchestra and Praise Team will warm-up at 8:30. Choir will warm-up at 9:10 for first service. Hope to see many of you here!

Last week I included links to the voice enhanced part recordings of “Breath and Clay,” which we are working on. You’ll find the links to them and the rest of the choral music we are working on. Hope this helps! Current Choral Music (Audio)

  1. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate how organized choir is . That includes the music, scheduling, and informational emails. It takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to make it look so effortLESS. Thanks to everyone involved. If you ever need an extra pair of willing hands, please call me.
